Are These The Top 3 Car Insurers In The UK?

The price comparison website mustard.co.uk has recently undertaken some research into how good car insurance providers are here in the UK as far as customer satisfaction goes. A number of factors were taken into account when conducting the survey amongst 9,761 participants of whom 8,196 hold car insurance policies here in the UK.

It would appear that this was a comprehensive survey and some of the results make for interesting reading some of which we mention below.

In first place for overall customer satisfaction was NFU Mutual with 94%. It is pleasing to read that 97% of policyholders taking part in the survey would recommend NFU Mutual to family and friends for their car insurance. 98% of people were impressed with the purchasing process over the phone and 89% were pleased with the overall claims process. NFU Mutual does not provide online purchasing to its customers.

In second place was LV= Liverpool Victoria for overall customer satisfaction with 89%. It is good to read that 89% of policyholders taking part in the detailed survey would recommend LV= to family and friends for their car insurance. 89% of people were impressed with the online purchasing process. 91% were pleased with the purchasing process conducted over the phone. 86% were impressed with how their claims were dealt with overall.

In third place was Tesco Bank for overall customer satisfaction with 86%. It is pleasing to read that 88% of policyholders that participated in the research would recommend Tesco Bank to family and friends for their car insurance. 87% were pleased with the online purchasing process. 91% were impressed with the purchasing process over the phone and 79% of policyholders were pleased with the overall claims process.

In 4th place for overall customer satisfaction was Churchill at 85%.

In 5th place for overall customer satisfaction was Aviva at 85%.

In 6th place for overall customer satisfaction was Direct Line at 85%.

In 7th place for overall customer satisfaction was Saga at 82%.

In 8th place for overall customer satisfaction was AXA at 81%.

In 9th place for overall customer satisfaction was esure at 81%.

In 10th place for overall customer satisfaction was Admiral at 79%.

The research revealed that it is those in the 17 to 24 year age bracket who, on average, pay the most for their car insurance at £938 per annum and those in the 60 to 69 year age bracket pay the lowest premium at £342 per annum.

On average, on a regional basis, motorists in Northern Ireland paid the most for their car insurance at £575 per annum whilst those motorists living in the South West paid the lowest premium at £399 per annum.
