Cars which are cheapest to Insure

A popular car insurance comparison website has taken a look at some of the new vehicles that have been released in the UK and found some cars that will not only help you get cheap car insurance, but they will also help you immensely reduce your driving costs.

Each new car in the UK is placed in a car insurance group that ranges from 1 to 50. The group in which a car is placed in lets the customers know how much the car is expected to cost the insurer in terms of repair costs per claim. The vehicles that fall in group one represent the lowest cost and risk for the insurers, hence the lower the group the vehicle is in, the lower will be the insurance premium.

Before they insure your car, the insurers will be interested to know how secure your vehicle is. If you have fitted any security devices which deter theft like an immobiliser, tracking device or an alarm, then your car will be lower in the insurance group hence your insurance premium will be a lot lower.

The car insurance comparison website has also revealed four new cars which will help you get cheap car insurance. The one litre version of the Vauxhall Corsa, the Chevrolet Spark 1.0i Base, the Fiat Panda 1.1 active ECO and the Volkswagen Fox 1.2i Base/Urban, all fall into the group 1 category and hence are the cheapest cars to insure.

These vehicles also fall into the lower tax bands A-E which also help you save money by keeping the cost of everyday driving down.

A spokesperson for the car insurance comparison site that did the study says, “It is important to understand that every insurance premium is unique to the circumstances of whoever is taking the policy out. Just because you opt for a low category car does not always mean you will qualify for cheap car insurance, there are other factors at play such as age, convictions and where you live.”
